Hand to Earth, Foot to Path - The Marks We Leave

There’s something sacred about putting your hand to the earth.About feeling the dirt under your nails, the pulse of Country beneath your feet. About crafting something with meaning—something that carries more than just beauty. It carries memory. Movement. Story.

These earrings I've created, the collection Hands to Earth, Foot to Path, are more than adornment. They’re markers of who we are, where we’ve come from, and where we’re going.
Each golden curve holds the warmth of the sunlit earth. Each white handprint speaks of connection—to Country, to kin, to craft. Each footprint is a quiet symbol of the journey—of those who walked before, and of the steps we take today.
In our culture, we don’t just walk—we leave a story.
I spent five years living in Aotearoa—New Zealand. At first, it was exciting: A new environment. New friendships. A new workplace. New money. New roads to learn. New rhythms to follow. I really appreciated the experience. Time went on, and New Zealand began to feel like home. I wanted to settle there. But my roots never took to the ground.
When my long-term relationship began to crack, I felt something stir deep inside me. It wasn’t just heartbreak. It wasn’t homesickness. It was a longing—a spiritual call. A yearning to stand on my land. To feel my earth breathe with me. To hear my oceans singing back to my spirit.
Like a fish out of water, praying to be placed back in water.
And when I returned to Gubbi Gubbi Country, I understood. There are some connections you can’t recreate or explain. Some callings that come from your bones. My hand to earth—my earth—was a moment of deep recognition. A remembering. A reconnection to something ancient and alive.
I’m thankful for the journey my feet took me on. I believe I left a mark—a story, a softness, a strength. But what I needed most was to place my hand back on home soil. To feel the welcome of Country. To breathe with Her again.
“I was here. I made, I loved, I stood.
I followed the old tracks, and I made new ones.”
I always encourage my young ones—my nieces and nephews—to travel. To take every opportunity with both hands. To trust their feet, knowing their hand will always be on Country. Because the path ahead is one only they can walk.
I can share all my stories, all my lessons, until I’m returned to this earth...but you’ll only truly understand once you’ve left your own mark.
Wear these earrings not just as fashion—but as a reminder: That your presence has weight. Your touch has purpose. And your path matters.
Hand to earth. Foot to path.
Made on Gubbi Gubbi Country with deep love and cultural pride.
